"Bird's Eye View" Log Cabin in Loop and Hilltop Area, Gatlinburg

Bird's Eye Vies was great. The driveway was intimidating at first but it is in the mountains. We enjoyed the visiting turkeys and the bear. Cabin was very comfortable and extremely clean.

We have been frequenting the Gatlinburg area for 30 years, and have good experiences and fair ones (one even bad). I must give kudos to the rental company, as their maintenance crew is extremely prompt no matter what time of the day. There was a gas problem that turned out to be beyond the control of management, and was dealt with in a professional manner. I felt the amenities that came with the unit were below what we normally experience with other rentals. I realize that you are expected to bring much of your own provisions but have never experienced a chalet that required you to launder your own towels, but provided no soap products to do so. Typically previous tenants (including us) leave products behind for the next family, including foil, plastic wrap, sugar, normal dish washing detergent. Apparently there products are donated if left behind. I am not against donating food items, but found the unit lacking in basics I have found everywhere else. There was absolutely no privacy for anyone exiting the upstairs bedroom or using the back deck including the hot tub from the viewing of tenants in the next chalet (that chalet had window shades and bamboo shades to prevent the same). The driveway, although scary upon first use, was not out of the ordinary for many mountain homes. The proximity to town and quiet setting were most definitely A Bird's Eye View's biggest asset. The view from the deck in almost nil, but again, we knew that coming in. I anticipate this particular unit having many problems down the road with ground shifting and settling. Lastly, I want to reiterate my satisfaction with Mountain Rentals of Gatlinburg. They were always prompt in returning calls and following up on problems. I would definitely think about using them as my next rental agent, but do not think I would recommend this particular chalet to any friends or relatives.
