5 days in the Above the Smoke cabin was just what we needed to unwind and relax. Private, quiet, clean, comfortable, great mountain view, are just a few words to describe our cabin. My wife and I celebrated our 26th anniversary during our stay. We researched cabin rentals online for a few months but wanted to see them for ourselves before we booked a weeks stay. Once in Gatlinburg we visited the Montain Rentals office and were fortunate that a few cabins were available on such short notice. We chose Above the Smoke and are very happy with our decision. While there we were able to meet the owners Gary & Annette. They are very nice people and take pride in their properties. The cabins are a great value as we learned from our first night in Gatlinburg. We stayed in a hotel that was way more expensive but let's just say it didn't measure up to the experience at the cabin. We will definitely book with them again and have no reservations about booking a cabin online this time.

Once we got past the narrow winding road that takes you to the cabin, my wife and I had a wonderful 22nd Anniversary weekend! The cabin was just the right size for a weekend getaway! We especially liked relaxing in the hot tub after dark - just star gazing and enjoying viewing the cabin lights on the other side of the mountains. We really like the fact that the other 3 cabins on the road are close enough to be able to enjoy with other couples, but still have your own private retreat ... we hope to vacation with friends in these cabins in the future. We sure hated to leave it, but know that we'll be back. If you are considering renting this cabin, don't hesitate - you'll be glad you did!

Very nice cabin, clean, great view & quiet. Just what we wanted, ready to go back already. Can't believe we didnt have reservations this time,and they had a cabin like that for us.

We spent 3 nights at “Above the Smoke” in early June 2010. It was our first stay there, having spent 60 plus nights at “Nestled Inn” which is also owned by Annette and Gary Guy. Our stay at this cabin confirmed what we already knew, that their cabins are simply “the best”! “Above the Smoke” is a beautiful little cabin that is perfect for couples who want to spend some time in a special place. It is charming, rustic, cozy, warm, inviting, beautifully decorated,secluded, private, yet not too far away from Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, has great mountain views................I could go on and on! When we arrived it was clean and very well maintained. We have already booked this cabin for 8 nights in early November. That should tell you that we really love it! Annette and Gary clean and maintain all of their cabins and all of their hard work shows. These cabins are how they make their living, but it’s not just a business to them, it is work that they enjoy! Four of their cabins, “Nestled Inn”, “Silver Moon”, “Forever” and “Above the Smoke” are situated on a ridge like “4 Crown Jewels”! They are within easy walking distance of each other yet not so close to compromise your privacy. If you are looking for cabins for several couples where you each can have your own place and be close together, this is the spot! If you have never rented a cabin before here are some things to consider; compared to a hotel, you will have more space, you will be staying in a true home and not a place with 4 walls and a bathroom, you will only be steps away from a deck with a hot tub and mountain views, you will have a fully equipped kitchen with a dish washer, you won’t be hearing bumps and other noises during the night and when you arrive at your cabin, you will only have to carry your luggage less than 20 feet from your car to the door! And, dealing with Mountain Rentals of Gatlinburg is a pleasant experience too. We have rented through them for several years. They have always been helpful, cheerful, courteous and professional and when you check out, you can call them without having to drive to their office! To sum it up, you can’t go wrong with a “Guy” cabin and Mountain Rentals of Gatlinburg!
