Smoky Mountains Vacation News - Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, Sevierville Tennesee

Welcome to Mountain Rentals of Gatlinburg's Blog!

The weather in Gatlinburg has been Spring like (highs around 60 and lows around 40) complete with birds chirping and daffodils blooming.  I want to bask in the sunshine and frolic through the fields! The warm weather has created a perfect setting for hiking in the Smoky Mountains and taking in the beauty of our area.  I have also enjoyed what will be the last few days of "Winter Magic" in Gatlinburg as it ends on February 28th.  If you can't make it to Gatlinburg before the lights have been whisked away until next season, visit our live webcam.  The webcam is focused on the Gatlinburg Parkway for a great view of the lights at night and all of the activities during the day.

Ober Gatlinburg is still going strong with 7 slopes open and a 20"- 41" base.  I personally have not been skiing (lack of coordination), but I pass snow bunnies everyday that can't get enough of the wind in their face as they race down the Black Diamonds.  If your not a skier there are other activities at the resort for all to enjoy.  An indoor  ice skating rink, black bear habitat, go carts, shopping and bungee fun are some of the  options you will have while visiting Ober.  I must suggest a tram ride as it is one of America's Largest Aerial Tramways and a wonderful experience with great views!

"They say if you don't like the weather in East Tennessee wait until tomorrow. "

This is hilarious.  I would rent just because of Happy Campers great sense of humor.  Gatlinburg is a great place to visit or settle down.  The school system's are top notch and the surrounding Smokies allow for endless outdoor activities.

We spent our Fall vacation in Gatlinburg for two years now and loved every minute of it.  Even if we haven't seen a bear!  The last several winters we've enjoyed cruising in the caribbean but are not able to this year so we're hoping we can take a few days to drive to Gatlinburg and experience the winter weather.

Kelley,

Ober Gatlinburg usually begins their season around the middle of December and generally runs through mid March.  If you are looking for cabins in the Ski resort area visit www.mountainchalets.com and select "Ski Mountain" from the Gatlinburg Location menu.  Ski Mountain is only 2 miles from the Parkway and that is from the very top!
